Project overview
Sunfire Restaurant, located in the heart of Queenstown, New Zealand, has a vibrant outdoor area frequented by locals and tourists alike. However, the chilly evenings typical of the region limited the usability of this space. Infrared Australia are experts in outdoor heating and were approached by owners of Sunfire and its sister establishment Flame Bar Grill for assistance in providing effective warmth and comfort for their guests to enjoy their outdoor dining area.
Challenges and Installations
Sunfire wanted a solution that combined stylish installation with effective heating. Too many outdoor heaters are affected by air movement and positioned very close to Lake Wakatipu, their restaurant is subject to significant breezes from time to time. While providing ambience, gas bottle heaters could not offer sufficient comfort to patrons. To meet this need, Infrared Australia recommended the Heliosa 66 Black Glass short-wave infrared heater, which perfectly complemented the showpiece cantilever umbrella and outdoor furniture. Four Heliosa 66 Black Glass short-wave infrared heaters were mounted on four corners of the umbrella to provide real heat while flame gas bottle heaters provided ambience at floor level. Due to their patented parabolic reflectors Heliosa 66 Black Glass can be close to the umbrella fabric and effectively throw heat away from the body of the heater which allows maximisation of heat distibution under the giant umbrella.
Why Heliosa 66 Black Glass Short-wave Infrared Heater?
The Heliosa 66 Black Glass short-wave infrared heater utilises innovative short-wave infrared technology, providing targeted and efficient heating compared to traditional medium and long-wave panel or strip infrared heaters. It emits high-intensity radiant heat that primarily warms objects and people directly, meaning there’s no need for pre-heating—simply turn it on and immediately feel the warmth!
Compared to other conventional heating solutions (e.g outdoor gas heaters, mushroom gas heater), the Heliosa 66 Black Glass short-wave infrared heater offers significant advantages, including 92% radiant efficiency, larger heat projection (only 2000W heats up to 15m²), and up to 5,000 hours of long life with no maintenance required. The fully weatherproof design allows it to be operated safely in all weather conditions.

Results
The results from the installation of Heliosa 66 Black Glass short-wave infrared heaters at Sunfire restaurant are self-evident. Now, customers can comfortably enjoy dining in the outdoor area at any time of the year.
